Mercy and Love

River

One day, a simple man of God, named Moses, made a humble request of his God. Picture this with me……Moses wants to know, encounter and experience God, so he asks Him to reveal Himself.  Moses is desiring to understand and connect with his God.  In the book of Exodus we see this amazing transaction.

As the Creator God, Elohim, passes in front of Moses, He makes a powerful declaration of who He is. The great I AM speaks…..”I am merciful, I am gracious, I am long-suffering and I am full of goodness and truth. I am merciful and keep mercy….and I forgive all iniquity, transgression and sin.”

I have paraphrased Exodus 34:6-7.

God has just shown Moses, and us, five beautifully tender aspects of Himself. God is merciful, compassionate/gracious, steadfast in love, tenaciously faithful, and forgiving. Through these, God wants us to experience and know Him. All through time, God has revealed Himself this way and the people of Israel, against all odds, did indeed experience Him thus way.  And today, this is how you and I can enter in and have an encounter with the great I AM.  Through this revelation and encounter with God, He grows us from the inside out.  This is the unthinkable concept of grace!

Over and over, God describes Himself as having steadfast love for His people. Despite their unfaithfulness and failings, He reminds them of His unconditional love or covenant love extended to them.  God always deals with His people, His creation, through the revelation of His name and nature.

You see my friend….God doesn’t just have love, HE IS love! God is His own reference point – I love that!

God’s faithfulness has never been dependent on our worthiness or readiness. He is faithful to His name and nature first and foremost. Since you and I can never keep our own right standing with God (righteousness), we constantly enter into and proclaim that HE is our righteousness, through the shed blood of Christ. He is our expression of love and faithfulness. His mercy is ours and we partake of His merciful nature. Remember, in Exodus that was the first attribute He declared to Moses – His mercy.

When you and I cry out for God’s mercy, it will always get answered because God cannot deny or ignore His very nature or essence.

In Ezekiel, God is speaking through the prophet and telling Israel He has had enough of their unfaithfulness and idolatry. In reading the entire text, you can see that He is fed-up with His people and reminds them of His anger towards them and their despicable behavior. The great I AM is in the processing of scattering them among all other people groups and nations as result of their rebellion.  However, in the next instance we see God relenting, and having a very merciful moment. God makes a very tender statement – “I am not doing this for your sake, house of Israel, but for the sake of my holy name” (Ezekiel 36:22).

This, my friend, is restoration and divine justice. This is how a merciful God responds to His children.

Divine Love is not determined by the worthiness of its object, but by the total generosity towards its subject.

This is good news – by His grace I am saved!

“Long ago the LORD said to Israel: “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.” Jeremiah 31:3

The Son Has Risen

The Son

Any freedom I walk in is because of God’s grace.

It is not anything I have done except lean into Him and make Him my life….my essence!

The letter of the law nearly strangled me to death; my paltry obedience was never enough.

I was suffocating under its weight.

I was broken beyond repair……except for the CROSS!

He stepped down from the glory and came to save me; He left to come and find me.

He became my darkness; He took what was mine and gave me His.

He is my morning! He is my new beginning; He is my dawn.

And now I share in the brightness of His love and His power has reached me.

No longer forsaken, but received.

No longer a beggar, but a daughter.

It is out of my brokenness that He comes and shines through.

And now He says that I am altogether lovely

No stain or blemish found within.

I am forgiven. I am cleansed.  His mercies are new.

They have kissed with truth – righteous has sprung forth.

Good morning beautiful you, you are worth waking for!

Mighty Waters

The victory belongs to the Lord. Everything belongs to Him and He has already won.  Psalm 24:1

Since the election, I have felt very strong in my spirit that it is imperative that God’s people “rush forward” and NOT SHRINK BACK!

As we are aware of all the riots and disenchanted voices everywhere, there needs to be ONE voice, a united voice, speaking out into the spiritual realm, across our land. And that voice is the voice of the bride of Christ.  I believe NOW, more than ever, the body of Christ needs to use its voice to speak out the heart of God.

Over the past 7-8 days, I have felt compelled to constantly be in prayer all day. We know that the scripture admonishes us to pray without ceasing and this is what I am referring to.  Whatever I am doing, whether standing and cooking, sitting or driving my car, I feel a voice rising up within me to proclaim God’s goodness, favor, mercy and power wherever I go.  I sense it is not my own voice, but the voice of God’s spirit within me as a believer, that is wanting to be released.

It is like a bursting fountain of water that I cannot stop. I don’t even need to think about it, it just constantly flows out of my mouth.  Thankfulness begins to bubble up inside of me and pour out moment by moment.

As I have been hearing about the riots and protests everywhere, I am reminded of the passage of scripture in Revelation 12:15 where the dragon opens his mouth and spews forth water in order to drown “the woman” who gave birth to the child. This is what I see, in type, that the enemy of God’s people, is angry and is spewing forth his spirits of hatred, violence, murder, and dissention upon our land.  A flood of waters has been poured out in order to drown out the power and voice of God’s people. Can you see the violent flood moving forth to keep everyone in fear and pushed down to the ground?  Rushing water has the power to carry away everything in its path to complete destruction.

It is now time for the body of Christ, to rise up, shake off all complacency, apathy and offense and take her rightful place as a true heir of God’s Kingdom. As people of God we have the ability to set the tone and change the atmosphere with our love and declarations.  Because of Jesus’ precious blood, we have been given power and authority on this earth for good.

I encourage everyone to be filled with Christ’s beautiful spirit, to walk circumspectly and soberly now more than ever. Take your place and declare forth God’s mercy, love and power where ever you go!  Refuse every spirit of offense that comes your way and refuse to be caught up in disagreements and paltry words.

Life and death are in our tongue and each individual has the ability to shift realms and territories with their authority and voice. So use your mouth for good and righteousness!

I see the bride of Christ standing strong, united, and lifting up her voice in declaration of God’s love and power! We can choose to look at what is going on around us through the eyes of God, which is a heavenly perspective, or through a filter of hurt and fear, which is an earthly perspective.  We must set aside our petty differences and join arms with one another in love and unity.  When we do this, we will push back the enemy’s line and his plans and assignments will be defeated.

Take your territory Child of God! Walk, move, and run forward without fear.  For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of love, power and a sound mind.  We have the mind of Christ.  Bind His thoughts to your mind and speak forth HIS declarations daily.

I firmly believe that if the body of Christ will activate this principle in every city and region across the nation, we can and WILL see a demise in the protests and angry mobs. And the waters of the evil one will be swallowed up (Revelation 12:16)

Keep Running – Don’t Stop!

running-destiny

Have you ever had a passion to do something that seemed bigger than yourself? Maybe it was to start a new business venture, step out and create something that has never been seen, or travel to an unknown destination that you have only perceived in your dreams!

I had a vision today of myself running….full speed, wind blowing in my hair and with determination on my face. And when I turned to look beside me, guess who I saw?  My precious Lord Jesus.  He was running alongside of me with the biggest smile on His face.  His gait is longer than mine and He moves more swiftly, but He was cheering me on.  I could hear Him telling me not to stop!  With His hand on my back for support, I felt confident and sure of my destination.

My friend, Jesus is running alongside of you as well. Turn and see His beautiful face encouraging you!

This past weekend I was able to participate in something I had been dreaming about for over 13 years. Sometimes our dreams and passions are bigger than we think we can hold or accomplish, but I have learned that those are the dreams that come from heaven.

I can hear Jesus saying, “Don’t give up! This is what I died for….. beloved one, for you to LIVE, really live!” I see Him breathing on each one of you as you are in the starting blocks, ready for the signal to start.  You have prepared, trained and prayed countless prayers and He has seen it ALL!  He wants you to know that NOTHING has been in vain.

Don’t give up – you are on the verge of a breakthrough!

The enemy of your soul is breathing hot on your back, but don’t let it intimidate you. Holy angels are surrounding you and fighting on your behalf.  I can see them…clouds of angelic hosts sent to surround you, comfort you and strengthen you.  Ask the Father for eyes to see where they are strategically stationed to minister to you.  Like water stations along the marathon route, the Father has positioned His holy angles to give you what you have need of along the journey.

The Father is synchronizing heaven with earth in this season for you. Only believe that God has greatness in store for you.  In the days to come you will see His heavenly “time clock” line up and come in synch with what you are believing for.

Tear down the lies that whisper, “it’s impossible” or “you can’t do that.” They are dripping with darkness and hold no power over you.  Stand and watch the whirlwind that is coming to blow fresh breath on your back and catapult you into the fullness of your destiny.  It is not too late, it is not impossible.  I hear the Father say that NOTHING can stop His plans for you.

No weapon formed against you will prosper!

Run my friend…run like the wind! The Father is smiling down on you, Jesus is running beside you.  You are NOT ALONE!  Tell the lies to stop!  The things you have dreamed have been birthed and conceived in love from the portals of heaven and downloaded into your spirit man.  Pull them out of yourself and watch the beauty of all you have dared to believe come forth.

Prophecy to yourself! Contend, contend, and contend MOE!  Never give up!

“Yes, Be bold and strong!  Banish fear and doubt!

For remember, I am with you wherever you go.”

Fixing Our Eyes On Jesus, the Author and Finisher of Our Faith!

I have an eight year old Australian Shepard, who undisputedly, is the smartest dog I know.  When we purchased “Janie” all those years ago from a local breeder, it was because my daughters had been begging for a dog for a couple of years.  I finally relented, but considered that if I was to get a dog, I wanted a breed that was smart and would obey me!  So, I did lots of research and the general consensus of everything I read, stated that Aussie’s were one of the smartest dogs around.

After we picked Janie out of the litter and brought her home, the long, arduous task began of training this cute, furry puppy.  Guess who that task fell upon – you guessed it…… ME!  Although my girls tried their hardest to train and build relationship with their new family member, I noticed that little Janie followed me around the most and looked to me for all of her needs.  After all, I was the one feeding her, bathing her, cleaning her and buying her all those fun toys!  Therefore, I had officially become her new master!

Over the years, I have worked tirelessly in order to train Janie to be an obedient dog.  The main reason I was so concerned over this fact was that if I could get her to obey my voice instantly, I knew it would keep her safe when we were outside walking or jogging – something Australian Shepherds LOVE to do!  Since Aussie’s have lots of energy, sweet Janie needed to be walked every day.  The dangerous element of this would be is that Janie continually pulled herself out of her collar and leash to go chase cars, squirrels or little kids on bikes.  It took months, and months to break this very, bad habit.

Over the years, I have slowly weaned Janie off of her leash and now we can go anywhere and she will follow my commands by voice.  Over the past 3 years or so, as Janie has matured, and when we go for a walk, she will stay in step with me and keep pace without me having to guide her on a leash.  I trust her to listen to my voice and obey my commands.  After all, most of my commands are given to protect her and keep her safe.  I love her dearly and want to make sure she is protected and out of harms way.

Lately, I have noticed that as we are going on our walks, she is constantly looking up at my face.  Ready and waiting for me to guide her.  If she gets ahead of me, she will continually turn, pause, study my face and seem to wait on me so she doesn’t get too far ahead.  I have also noticed that I can communicate with her without using my voice.  I can look at her a certain way, tilt my head in the direction of a turn or snap my fingers, and she will know which direction to head in.  As our relationship has grown over the last 8 years, we know one another, and trust one another.  I trust her to listen, watch and wait for me and she trusts me to guide her in the correct direction of our daily walk.  It brings me great pleasure to know that Janie has developed a wonderful habit of studying my face in order to be told what direction to move in.

One day, before our daily walk,  I was reading Psalm 32, and I stopped short when I read verse 8.  In the previous verses, David had been pouring out his heart to God and then you see at the close of verse 7 the word, SELAH.  The word selah in Hebrew means to pause and/or meditate.  So, as David is pausing and meditating on what he has just said, God enters the conversation and  says, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye”.  I slowed down and read this over and over many times until these words got down deep inside me.  My first response was, yes God, I want you to guide ME with Your eye!   And then my next thought was, how interesting and peculiar that God is able to guide His children with His very own eye – how does this work?

As I meditated on these verses over the days and weeks, one day it dawned on me!  Just as I am able to guide my furry, four-legged companion, Janie, with my eye and facial expressions, our Heavenly Father does the same for us.  The important part to understand in all of this is relationship.  Just as Janie and I have spent hours and hours together over the last 8 years, developing a close relationship, we must do the same with our Father God.  The more time we spend with God, studying His face, His nature, we know who He is and we learn to trust Him explicitly.  He is then able to guide us with His eye and move us in the direction we are go.  He loves to do this, in order to keep us safe and out of harms way.

My relationship with Janie has actually taught me a lot of great life’s lessons.  This one has been one of my favorites thus far.  The time I spent pouring into my relationship with Janie over the years has produced a beautiful connection between us.  We have a mutual understanding between us and she is completely devoted to pleasing me in all things.  I really believe that is the main reason why she studies my face, waiting for my eye to guide her.  She wants to please me because she loves me and trusts me.  She wants to do my will.  I am her master and she knows that I only have her best interest at heart.

I encourage you to read all of Psalm 32.  In the passage after verse 8, God exhorts us as His children to NOT be like the horse or the mule, who have no understanding; for they must be harnessed with bit and bridle, lest they will not come near.  God desires us to come near unto Him.  He wants to instruct us and guide us but, he is only able to do this to the degree we submit to Him and know Him.  When we spend time reading and treasuring His precious word daily, we become so familiar with His ways and thoughts.  It is then, that we can actually begin to feel His eye upon us, guiding us and moving us in His perfect will.

Study His face my friends, gaze into His beautiful eyes and allow Him to teach you. For in Him are all things beautiful and He is full of light!  Your path will never be darkened and you cannot stumble, for He will illuminate your path with the radiance of His glorious face.  His eye is ever on you!
